Praise for Dancing on the Wind
"With surprises around every turn of the page and a story that keeps you guessing right up until the end, Dancing on the Wind is Mary Jo Putney at her best, combining suspense, humor, and a unique style of sensuality (perhaps surprising to gentle readers!). Readers will be enthralled and enraptured with this irresistible tale."
—Romantic Times
"Dancing on the Wind is another A+ read from one of the very best I count on Mary Jo Putney for a compelling story with characters who live and breathed, and most of all, love. Lucien senses in Kit the change to regain a part of himself he had thought forever lost. Kit has always felt second-best, and finds it difficult to believe that she can trust in Lucien's love. Their love story is intense, emotional, and deeply satisfying."
—Under The Covers
"One of my favorite romances of all time."

Dancing On the Wind (Fallen Angels Book 2) - edition by Mary Jo Putney. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews
Trying to ferret out a spy takes Lucien to try to join the Hellfire club. Kate Travers is working out who may have abducted her sister.
The two desires bring Kate (Kit) and Lucien into the same orbit. How they work their way through all the deviousness of the Hellfire club and the theater world makes for a delightful tale.
I believed that I liked Lucien going into this book and Kit, being a Blue stocking, is my kind of girl. However, I can't say that I enjoyed the story or the romance. Don't get me wrong. The book is well written and a good mystery/puzzle. However, SPOILER the Hellions are a club for debauchery and its leaders are truly creepy people. Their activities are well described.
Lucien and Kit each have their own interest in the Hellions. Lucien is looking for Peers who are working with the French. Kit is looking for her sister who has disappeared. They cross paths several times. Both are twins and much is made of the special bond that twins have. Could that bond make a romance fail?
Romancing Lady Ryder, a novella by Anne Gallagher, is a sweet story of a spymaster similar to Lucien and an equally smart lady. I enjoyed it so much more than I did Dancing in the Wind. The spies and their ladies in the Rebel Royals series are also more enjoyable to read. Maybe I simply like fluffier reads than this author writes.
This book just reaches out and grabs your attention and never lets go! From the first page you are on a wild ride of mixed identities, twin-connections, and intrigue!
This book according to some reviewers stretches belief that one twin (different set) could find a partner that is also one of two (twins) but I believe this is possible because in many cases only a twin would understand the man character's problems and feelings. Since I am not a twin but have felt "mental connections" to my hubby, older daughter and even very close friend I've never physically met----I can understand this very well.
The hero is a multi-sided man with hidden agenda even from the one he is vexed and in turn falls in love with--and only tells her his whole story when he feels completely safe, which makes perfect sense. Each of the three main characters (one you don't actually meet till near the end) are complex and I love how Mary Jo Putney weaves characters from other "Fallen Angels" series into on-going stories and you see them develop and grow! It makes it much more enjoyable.
The heroine in this book needs help and has a self-esteem problem that develops in this story. It sort of reminded me of the Tin Man & Lion who each thought their character lacked things!
Mary Jo has a magic in her books of drawing you into a person's thoughts and feelings and they become very important and this book just seemed so perfectly paced and with people that were very "real" and multi-dimensional that you forgot you were reading fiction! I love every book I've read by Mary Jo and have been a reader and fan since mid 1990's. I'm buying Fallen Angel's series for my even thought I own all the paper backs she's written! THAT'S HOW GREAT she is.
I somehow missed this piece of the Fallen Angels first time around and found great satisfaction and enjoyment in a new discovery. Don't miss this installment of a wonderful series!
Although I found this book a little less compelling and appealing than Thunder and Roses, which I stayed up all night to finish in one sitting, it was still very enjoyable. Kit and Luce were both likeable and sympathetic characters. Kit took rather longer to overcome her trust issues than I thought necessary. It was somewhat predictable but that wasn't a serious shortcoming, in my opinion. Putney explained the meaning of Dancing on the Wind as an allusion to hanging, so I rather expected someone to end up on the gallows--no one did. She did not as explicitly make the connection to the dancing abilities of the twins, but I think that was her intent. I am a reader who reads the end of the book to determine if it will be worth the effort to complete--I like happy ending and/or, at the very least, redemption. I find reading the end more cumbersome with e-books, so for those with similar foibles, this book was worth the read and had a satisfying denouement. I look forward to meeting Kit and Luce again as the stories of Rafe and Michael are explored--I wouldn't mind running across Kira and Jason again. Putney has a good ability to leave me wanting to know more.
After recently finishing Thunder and Roses, the first book in this series, I was intrigued enough by the remaining 3 unmarried Fallen Angels that I immediately downloaded the rest of the books in the series. I absolutely loved the first book, so I assumed #2, Dancing on the Wind, would be as good, but that there was no way it could pass up #1. Boy, was I wrong! The story was so engross that I ended up staying awake until 230AM to finish it the same night I started the book.
Dancing on the Wind is the story of Lucien, the earl of Strathmore, previously introduced as cool cat and spymaster extraordinaire in the first Fallen Angels book. I like Lucien, and Putney puts so much effort into his development that he takes shape as a hero who is also human, far beyond the typical strong silent type who never lets down his guard. The heroine, Kit, is a partner fit for a spymaster, and she keeps Lucien (and the reader!) guessing her true past the entire time. Literally, even if you're an avid reader, watch a lot of mysteries, etc - Kit's true past and identity will keep you guessing at least 2/3 of the way into the story.
The backstory that brings them together is also quite shocking and scandalous, even for a modern-day reader - I can't say too much without ruining the suspense. The novel as a whole is most intense and quite frankly, one of the best books I've read recently, both within and outside of the romance genre. Excellent read, even better than the first book of the series - I can hardly wait to start #3!
